Knowledge Level of Goat Farmers of Mayurbhanj District of Odisha on Health Care and General Management
KNOWLEDGE LEVEL OF GOAT FARMERS OF MAYURBHANJ DISTRICT OF ODISHA ON HEALTH CARE AND GENERAL MANAGEMENT
Abstract
The present investigation was carried out in four blocks of Mayurbhanj districts of Odisha state to assess the knowledge level of goat farmers on health care and general management. Data on knowledge of farmers on health care and management were collected through personal interview with the help of pre-tested structured interview schedule. This study reveals that most of the goat farmers of Public Sector Banks (PSB) and Micro Finance Institutions (MFI) possess very low level to medium level of knowledge on various aspects of health care and general management. The socioeconomic variables of the respondents of PSB like age, education, livestock possession, family size and income are positively correlated with knowledge on health care and general management. Whereas the variables like land holding and occupation are negatively correlated with knowledge on health care and general management. Only family size variable was found significantly associated with knowledge on health care and general management. In case of the respondents of the PSB; age, livestock possession and land holding are found positively correlated with knowledge on health care and general management. Whereas the variables like education, occupation, income is negatively correlated. None of the socioeconomic variables of MFI was found significantly associated with knowledge on health care and general management.
