Pigeonpea is the most important legume grown in semiarid. Bihar is one of the important pigeonpea growing states in India. However, area under pigeon pea in Bihar state has been declined over period of time. There may be several reasons assigned to this declined, lack of suitable excess moisture tolerant genotype may be one of them, obviously due to its very sensitiveness to waterlogging and can with stand under waterlogging for prolong period. At pan India level approximately 25-30 per cent area of pigeon pea are prone to excess moisture stress.
